Ethical fashion, you hear it everywhere but what really is it? What does ethical really mean?
Ethical
Relating to moral principals or the branch of knowledge dealing with these
To simple it down ethical in the fashion industry is a never ending thread. From the production, to the fabric and even down to the packaging. It is quite hard to be a 100% ethical brand in the current economy but it is becoming a lot more accessible and cheaper for brands to start their strands.
We are constantly looking into how we as an ethical Australian fashion brand can extend our efforts within the ethical field. Dark Thorn is produced in Australia and we take the effort and time to source natural ethical fabrics. As a brand that focusses on detail and design finding ethical trims and notations proves to be quite the task as many are made out of polyester.
There are still many aspects of Dark Thorn which we would like to transition into a more ethical avenue. We already package Dark Thorn in carboard boxes which are 100% recyclable but we would like to open avenues in ethical business cards, tissue paper, look books, swing tags, the list is endless.
The reason it is important for us here at Dark Thorn to create an ethical brand is because we like quality and we also like supporting workplaces that support their employees. As we are a small business ourselves we love supporting other small and ethical businesses. We enjoy craftsmanship here, resulting in high quality garments that will last a lifetime.
