I've always dreamt of the United Kingdom and Ireland especially because the United Kingdom is the second highest ranking country for the most visits to Dark Thorn Clothing's online store (thank you!). I also take design inspiration from beautiful architecture and royal periods of time (eg, The Victorian Era) so the United Kingdom is quite fitting.
By putting myself directly in the centre of royalty by visiting palaces, castles and cathedrals, I was overwhelmed by the powerful jolts of inspiration. I saw a few pieces of Queen Victoria's possessions and clothing at Kensington Palace, Mary Queen of Scots official and original Queen Chambers at the Palace of Holyroodhouse and King Henry VIII's armour at the London Tower (even though he was a bit of an a****** his armour was absolutely beautiful).

Practically 90% of my family also originate from Cornwall in England. Some being Cornish miners, others being of wealth and status. From Edgecumbe House in Cremyll and Cotehele House in St Dominic to miners in St Agnes and Redruth.

I got to attend an authentic medieval banquet at Dunguaire Castle in Galway, watch traditional falconry at Dunrobin Castle in Sutherland, drink butterbeer at The Making of Harry Potter in London, walk through the most haunted house in Ireland Loftus Hall, go into the haunted depths of the Edinburgh Vaults, follow a route around Cornwall to Poldark locations, explore the Roman Baths in Bath and see Beatrix Potter's house in Windemere just to name a few. I could sit here and name every single castle, manor, cathedral and palace I visited but I would more than likely bore you.

I know it's been a long time in between collections but this break was definitely needed to define my angle and work out where I want my designs to be. I am so ready to finalise and work on my next collection for you all to enjoy. This collection will be clearly inspired by this trip, from Celtic traditions, The Book of Kells, armoury, Scottish tartans and much more.
